Abstract

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are used for wide range of applications in both military and civil operations. Flight control systems (FCS) and simulators are used for the control and analysis of UAV performance and behavior. Various components are integrated to implement both FCS and simulators. Simulators are used to evaluate the flight performance, controllability and handling quality of aircraft. As such, they are an integral part in FCS design. This paper provides a thorough review of the modelling techniques, communication systems, sensory devices, control algorithms and simulation methods that are used for the implementation of FCS. The paper discussed the role of the various components of an FCS, as well.
